Israel-Hamas War Live Updates: Israel has given Hamas one week to agree to a hostage deal or it will launch a long-promised offensive in Rafah, the southernmost city of Gaza. Turkey’s trade ministry said it had suspended all imports and exports to Israel starting Thursday, citing the “worsening humanitarian tragedy” in the Palestinian territories.
“Israel-related import and export transactions have been suspended for all products,” the Turkish Trade Ministry said in a statement.
It added: “Turkey will strictly and resolutely implement these new measures until the Israeli government allows an uninterrupted and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
Last month, Turkiye, an ardent critic of Israel, announced immediate restrictions on exports of 54 products to Israel. These include aluminum, steel, construction products, and chemical fertilizers.
In a post on X, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz harshly criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying Turkiye was “breaking the agreement by blocking Israel’s import and export ports.”
Earlier, the United States urged both Israel and Hamas to ensure that aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip was not interrupted after a shipment from Jordan was attacked by Israeli settlers and then diverted by Palestinian militants. I asked for it.
