Canadian Deputy Minister of Immigration, Harpreet S. Kocher, is leading a delegation to Israel aimed at strengthening cooperation and mutual learning between Canadian and Israeli immigration authorities. The focus of the delegation is to explore ways to provide refuge in Canada for asylum seekers currently in Israel.
On Monday, Eyal Shiso, head of the Israel Population and Migration Authority, met with the Canadian delegation. Discussions focused on possible cooperation between the two countries in facilitating the voluntary departure of asylum seekers from Israel, the exchange of information and expert cooperation.
Key issues discussed during the meeting included establishing a permanent dialogue between the two authorities to build long-term cooperation and collaboration.
